I am proud to be Head Teacher of Sidemoor - a school where every child is treated as unique and special. We aim to work as a family to achieve high standards and to develop confident, independent children who are well-behaved and caring. We aim for every child to reach their full potential and all children are treated as individuals with unique abilities. Our school allows everyone to grow in confidence and independence, reflected in our motto, ‘Sidemoor First School, a place to flourish and grow’.
We work hard in school to ensure all our children are actively engaged in learning and our innovative and engaging curriculum has been designed to ensure all children are learning in stimulating lessons. A number of extra-curricular clubs ensure that our children have access to a range of exciting and stimulating activities, including French, football, dancing, gardening, sewing and arts and crafts (and many more). Regular themed weeks such as Healthy Living, Book Week and Science Week add a richness to the children's learning.
Our children are at the heart of all that we do. Their opinions are listened to and valued through School Council where they have regular meetings and discuss a wide range of issues raised in the class councils.
As a head teacher I am committed to ensuring that the children develop a real love of learning. The staff team are highly dedicated and fully understand their role in ensuring children achieve their full potential. All children are encouraged and supported to be the best they can be within our positive learning environment. We are very proud of our children as they have a positive attitude to learning and a responsible approach to all aspects of life, due to the high expectations set by all of our team at Sidemoor.
We strongly believe that education is best provided through a successful partnership between home and school and we work closely with parents and carers so that all children are able to take advantage of the learning experiences we offer both within and outside school in order for them to reach their true potential in life. I believe that schools are at the heart of any community and as a school we pride ourselves in involving, not just parents, but the wider community.
I may be accused of being biased when I say that Sidemoor First School is very special but I receive positive feedback from many parents and visitors. The only true way to find out how special the school is, is to walk through the door yourself and sample the atmosphere that we have created for our children and to see what we have to offer you and your children. However if you can’t visit please do enjoy looking around our website to get a flavour of what we offer.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school and community.
